Steals a FedEx truck – Kidnapping the driver
Yesterday a FedEx driver was working in the back of her truck when the suspect, William Powers, jumped in the driver’s seat and took off with the truck.
The victim told the suspect to stop and made eye contact with him in the rear-view mirror, alas he did not stop. To protect herself, she locked the rear door of the truck. Powers stopped the truck and tried to get into the back but was unable to since she had secured herself in there.
Powers got back in the driver’s seat and took off again and after a few minutes he wrecked the truck and took off running in the area.
We were able to setup up a perimeter and track a piece of FedEx property that he absconded with. When officers caught up to him, he took off running.
As he was running away, he dropped a bag of loot that contained FedEx property and personal items belonging to the victim.
The suspect told detectives that he merely found the bag of loot and was walking down the street with it when we found him. When he saw us, he decided to drop the bag and take off running.
