A man was arrested after he stabbed his mother on Saturday, according to the Bristol, Virginia Police Department.
According to police, a call came in shortly after 10 p.m., reporting a man bleeding at the Park and Ride on Island Road.
Joshua Woods, 30. told first responders that he had stabbed his mother. Bristol officers responded to a home on Wallace Pike and found a woman inside with stab wounds.
Officers said first aid was applied until emergency medical crews transported the woman to Bristol Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Police said the woman underwent surgery early Sunday morning. No details have been released regarding her condition.
Woods was treated for minor injuries at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon before he was taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
