Shooting at a busy gym in Indianapolis
A handful of VASA Fitness gym members drove by Wednesday morning confused to find the parking lot so empty, but grateful once they learned they had missed what was described as “mass chaos” the night before.
For at least a hundred gym-goers who were there around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the sound of gunshots was their cue to rush for the doors.
“Everyone had left their things, their car keys,” witness Celia Navarro recalled.
Witnesses say a sea of people flooded exit routes, some taking cover behind the building, afraid of crossing paths with a potential active shooter.
“We were just quiet and hiding in the dark,” Navarro added. “All that goes through your mind is running and hiding and hoping it’s a situation that’s under control.”
