Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia’s brother, Javier Pavia, was arrested during the game against Tennessee for public intoxication after he allegedly blocked fans’ views with a large flag and was verbally combative with event staff and law enforcement. This is the second time this season Javier has been arrested during a game.

He was previously arrested, along with another brother, Roel, in September for public intoxication and resisting arrest, with Roel also charged with assaulting an officer.

According to the police report obtained by Knox News, Javier Pavia was repeatedly spoken to by University of Tennessee event staff about blocking the view of others with a flag and told him to remove the flag. The arresting officer witnessed him arguing with event staff. The officer who filed the arrest report said Javier Pavia was slurring his speech, unsteady on his feet and appeared drunk.

“(Javier Pavia) was also extremely verbally combative with event staff and myself,” the report said.

The court documents did not offer details of the incident. WSMV-Ch. 4 reported that police were called to FirstBank Stadium around 9:20 p.m. regarding a belligerent man who was allegedly throwing food on other people. Officers found the accused to be Javier Pavia, who was described in an affidavit obtained by WSMV as “intoxicated, staggering, with an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.”

Both were booked into Davidson County Jail, but were released a few hours later, records show. The case remains pending with the next hearing scheduled for Jan. 12, according to Davidson County Criminal Court records.
