US special ops & marine presence in Taiwan for months (WSJ report)
US officials have admitted two dozen special ops and marine personnel have been secretly stationed in Taiwan for a year, to train local troops in ground and small-boat combat.
Deputy security adviser to President Trump, Matthew Potringer, explained that Taiwan’s defense spending has been poorly thought out for most of this century, with expensive purchases over effective defense systems.
Taiwan’s defense minister warned that China could launch a full-on attack on the island with minimal losses by 2025, after 150 flights by Chinese military aircraft near Taiwanese airspace in the last week alone.
