US Nuclear Sub Visits Base Near Taiwan
A US nuclear submarine carrying ādozens of nuclear warheadsā visited the American naval base in Guam, the nearest US military facility to China, on Jan 15 in what the Navy called a message to its allies.
The USS Nevadaās visit was the first of its kind to Guam since 2016 according to media, and signaled āUS capability, flexibility, readiness, and continuing commitment to Indo-Pacific regional security and stability.ā
The island lies less than 3,000km from Taiwan, where tensions remain high over Beijingās threats to take ādrastic measuresā should separatist forces provoke or exert force.
