US/China Summit: Biden raises concerns over human rights abuses as Xi warns of Taiwan “RED LINE”
On Monday the Presidents of the US and China held their longest talks since Biden took office as Xi Jinping sparred with his “old friend” over Taiwan, trade deals and human rights issues.
▪️Biden urged that “the competition between our countries does not veer into conflict, whether intended or unintended”
▪️Biden: The US “is always going to stand up for our interests and values and those of our allies and partners”
▪️Xi stressed the importance of bilateral trade and that it shouldn’t be politicized
▪️Xi reiterated to his American counterpart that China would take “decisive measures” if “pro-Taiwan independence” forces crossed a “red line”
