US ambassador to NATO dismisses Russia’s requests to halt military expansion ahead of key talks
Julianne Smith said The US, Russia and NATO were “committed to dialogue,” ahead of Wednesday’s meeting however rebuffed Moscow’s post-1997 expansion concerns telling CNN, “This alliance is not going to roll back time.”
Smith also dismissed Russia’s demands that Ukraine not be permitted to join the alliance saying, “Any decision about enlargement will continue to rest between the NATO alliance and the country in question.”
She also accused Russia of being “the main threat to European security for the past two decades.”
But “committed to dialogue,” right?
