Deputies initially got a trespassing call about 1:15 p.m. Thursday in Charleston, and when they arrived they found four people on the ground with their hands tied behind their backs, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
The four people were identified by the sheriff’s office as Elizabeth Littlejohn, 36, of Malden; James McDaniel Jr., 50, of Charleston; Timothy Justice, 56, of Milton, and Jason Becher, 38, of Charleston.
The foursome told deputies they’d been in the cabin and as they were leaving, a masked and armed man approached them, ordered them off an ATV and out of a truck, the news release said. The anonymous person then tied their hands behind their backs and shot out the tires of the vehicles before leaving the scene.
Deputies talked to the owner of the property who said the residence was a hunting cabin that he didn’t reside at full time. He also told deputies the cabin had been broken into several times in recent weeks, the news release said.
Property from the cabin was found in the suspect’s vehicle, which led to all four people being charged with breaking and entering, the news release said.
Investigators have determined the owner had no involvement in the apprehension of the suspects. The identity of the masked man is still unknown.
