Auburn – Amarjit Mishra, 47, is charged with five counts of child pornography possession. He was arrested June 2 in Lee County.
An Auburn University professor is on leave after his arrest earlier this month on child pornography charges. Mishra is an assistant professor at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
According to charging documents, Mishra on May 23 was in possession of images of a child under the age of 17 engaged in sexual acts or nudity.
Auburn University released this statement:
“We are aware of the allegations against and arrest of Amarjit Mishra. He has been placed on administrative leave and is not on campus. Mishra will remain on leave while the University evaluates this matter.”
He joined the staff in 2017.
