University of Michigan reaches half-billion dollar settlement over teacher’s four-decades of sexual abuse
The university agreed to a $490 million settlement with over 1,000 people who allege former sports doctor Robert Anderson sexually abused them during routine examinations.
“I believe this settlement will provide justice and healing for the many brave men and women who refused to be silenced,” an attorney representing 200 victims said.
Anderson was employed by the university from 1966 until his retirement in 2003.
The college has been in mediation to resolve multiple lawsuits by mostly men.
