UK power bills could increase 50% as “national crisis” hits energy market
Trade body, Energy UK, has called on the British government to cut the cost of energy bills as wholesale prices for power soar across the nation. (Irish Times)
“Domestic energy prices are going to go up 45% to 50% in the spring,” the Energy UK boss warned Thursday.
“Wholesale gas and power prices have increased to unprecedented levels over the last three weeks, creating an extremely difficult operating environment for every business in the industry,” the chief executive of Good Energy said in a statement.
