UK govt adds 14 to Russia sanctions list – inc RT owners TV-Novosti
Westminster has expanded its list of sanctioned entities and individuals with 14 additions, including TV-Novosti and Rossiya Segodnya, which own RT and Sputnik respectively.
The total number of UK govt-sanctioned figures and organizations now exceeds 1,000, with RT Managing Director Alexey Nikolov, Sputnik Editor-in-Chief Anton Anisimov and Rossiya anchor Sergey Brilev also pinged, along with Chief of National Defense Command and Control Center Mikhail Mizintsev.
One of the key reasons the govt statement cited to justify TV-Novosti’s sanctions was RT’s coverage of neo-Nazis being present in Ukraine – a narrative Western media had been happy to cover prior to the conflict.
