UK FUEL CRISIS: Tanker Driver Visa Scheme Attracts ONLY 127 Applicants
Foreign tanker drivers are apparently SNUBBING the chance to work in the UK as the petrol crisis continues – with just 127 drivers from the EU being granted temporary visas, PM Boris Johnson revealed on Tuesday.
The figures suggest the UK govt may struggle to reach its goal of bringing in 5,000 qualified drivers to alleviate the chronic shortage – with some 300 visas on offer immediately.
London and the south-east of England remain the worst affected areas with around 20% of petrol stations said to be empty.
