UK CANCELS French Covid vaccine 100mn dose deal

The UK government has cancelled it’s joint-second largest order of Covid vaccines for 100mn doses after alleging that French producer Valneva has breached its contract.

The vaccine – that contains a dead version of coronavirus to train the body’s resistance – is yet to receive clinical approval, but is already being produced at a facility in Scotland that employs over 250 staff.

Valneva had expected to receive approval by the end of this year, and the huge order had been expected to be a key part of the booster program confirmed by PM Boris Johnson.
