John R. Tyson, the chief financial officer of Tyson Foods, was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly becoming intoxicated and sleeping in the wrong house.
Tyson, 32, was discovered asleep in a woman’s bed at her home in Fayetteville, Arkansas, around 2 a.m., according to a preliminary arrest report. (Tyson’s headquarters are approximately 10 miles away in Springdale.)
When the woman discovered Tyson, whom she claimed she did not know, she called the police.
She told dispatchers that she believes he entered through the front door, which was left unlocked. When the cops arrived, they found Tyson in the back bedroom, his clothes in front of the bed. Officers used his driver’s license to identify him.
Police stated that they attempted to wake Tyson up and speak with him, but he was unable to respond.
According to the arrest report, Tyson lay back down and attempted to sleep after briefly sitting up.
Officers discovered an odor of alcohol on his breath and body, and his movements appeared sluggish and uncoordinated, according to the report.
Tyson was arrested on criminal trespassing and public intoxication charges. He was arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center before being released on Sunday evening.
On October 2, Tyson Foods appointed John R. Tyson, son of board chairman John H. Tyson, as CFO. He is also the executive vice president of the company.
“We’re aware of the incident, and as this is a personal matter, we have no additional comment,” a company spokesman said in a statement.
