Two Teens Commit Armed Robbery
RawNews1st – Officers with the Hobbs Police Department responded to the Allsups, located at 1100 East Sanger, in reference to an Armed Robbery.
Officers learned the store clerk was standing outside of the store when he was approached by two males. The two individuals pointed handguns at the clerk and attempted to take his vehicle.
During this robbery, the subjects escorted the clerk into the store at gunpoint. The subjects demanded the clerk open the cash register. Once opened the two subjects took the money and fled the store eastbound on foot.
Officers located the two subjects running in a field east of Hobbs High School.
After a short foot pursuit, both individuals were taken safely into custody. Both subjects had concealed firearms on their person at the time of arrest and also had stolen money from the robbery in their possession.
The offenders were identified as 18 year old Daijon Williams of Hobbs, NM, and 18 year old Javin Najera, also from Hobbs, NM.
At the time of his arrest, Najera was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Hobbs Municipal Court for traffic violations.
Williams and Najera are currently being held at the Hobbs City Jail, awaiting arraignment in Hobbs Magistrate Court.
Daijon Williams was charged with the following:
-Robbery – 2nd Degree Felony
-Kidnapping – 1st Degree Felony
-Attempt to commit a Felony (Robbery of the victim’s vehicle) – 3rd Degree Felony.
-Conspiracy (to Robbery) – 3rd Degree Felony.
-Unlawful Carrying of a Deadly Weapon – Misdemeanor
-Resisting Evading or Obstructing an Officer – Misdemeanor
Javin Najera was charged with the following:
-Robbery – 2nd Degree Felony
-Kidnapping – 1st Degree Felony
-Attempt to commit a Felony (Robbery of the victim’s vehicle) – 3rd Degree Felony.
-Conspiracy (to Robbery) – 3rd Degree Felony.
-Resisting Evading or Obstructing an Officer – Misdemeanor
-Unlawful Carrying of a Deadly Weapon – Misdemeanor
-Failure to Appear – Misdemeanor.
A local review of Williams’ criminal history revealed he has previously been charged for the following criminal offenses:
Fugitive From Justice – 1x
A local review of Najera’s criminal history revealed he has previously been charged for the following criminal offenses:
Resisting Evading or Obstructing an Officer – 1x
Possession of a Controlled Substance – 1x
Failure to Appear – 1x
Couple arrested after the death of her baby was ruled a homicide.
