On Wednesday morning, two people were shot during an attempted carjacking on Chicago’s West Side.

A 65-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were inside their vehicle in the 0-100 block of North Kostner when four unknown armed male offenders exited a silver-colored SUV and approached them, according to police.

The offenders want the car. At that point, a 65-year-old man with a valid CCL and FOID card produced a handgun and fired shots at the offenders. Nobody was hurt.

After that, one of the perpetrators opened fire on both victims, striking the woman in the chest. A graze wound to the man’s right calf was also sustained.

The offenders re-entered the SUV and fled the scene.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital and were listed in good condition.

Nobody is being held. Area Four detectives are looking into it.
