Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Cook County on Saturday night, prompting an investigation.
At 8:52 p.m., Hoffman Estates police responded to Higgins Road and Barrington Road for a three-vehicle crash.
An 18-year-old female driver was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
An 18-year-old passenger in the same vehicle was also taken to Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village, where he was pronounced dead.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the two teens as Amelia Mazeikis and Dshaun Tudela, both of Hoffman Estates.
Two other drivers were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol may have played a role in the crash, according to investigators. This crash is still being investigated, as are any pending charges.
The Hoffman Estates Police Department’s traffic division is being assisted with the investigation by MCAT’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
