Two men from Brooklyn are accused of stealing $148,000 worth of jewelry at gunpoint from Kay Jewelers in the Green Acres mall in Valley Stream.
Alonzo Simpson, 40, and Jahquan Williams, 28, both from Brooklyn, have been arrested and accused of robbing a Kay Jewelers in the Green Acres mall on September 18, stealing approximately $148,000 in jewelry. The incident involved a gun, and both men face charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, and second-degree grand larceny. Simpson was arrested the previous week and arraigned on October 2, while Williams was arrested more recently and was scheduled for an arraignment on October 9.
Investigators said they asked the female employee, 25, to look at a necklace.
As she opened the display case, detectives said one of the men displayed a gun and then they stole several pieces of jewelry worth about $148,000.
Officers said the victim feared for her life and complied as the two men ran from the scene.
Police charged both men with two counts of second-degree robbery, first-degree robbery and second-degree grand larceny.
According to court records, Simpson, who lives in East Flatbush, was arrested last Wednesday and was arraigned the next day on Oct. 2.
