Two inmates escaped from a Mississippi jail today, adding to the previous instances of four others breaking out from the same facility recently.
Michael Lewis and Joseph Spring were found missing during the morning headcount at the Raymond Detention Center in Hinds County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said Monday that Michael Lewis, 31, and Joseph Spring, 31, were discovered missing from the Raymond Detention Center near Jackson during the morning headcount.
The duo got into an air duct in the ceiling of the jail’s recreation room.
Outside of the jail, the men were able to climb over a fence.
Spring was in jail on parole violations and burglary charges. Lewis had been charged with driving under the influence and marijuana possession.
There have been no sightings of the men since they escaped, the sheriff said. They are believed to be on foot and were last spotted wearing red jumpsuits.
Four inmates escaped from the jail in April, leading to searches for the men in a number of states. One man was recaptured in Texas several days later.
Another was captured at a Mississippi home.
