At about 4:30 p.m., police say someone called 911 reporting two dead women at Ned Houk Park in Clovis, New Mexico. Upon arrival, officers found two women lying on the ground near a silver minivan.
A 5-year-old girl was found nearby with a head injury. She was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center then was transferred to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
The victims were identified as 23-year-old Samantha Cisneros and 23-year-old Taryn Allen.
Police found an infant car seat, stroller and a small baby bottle at the scene.
Officers were concerned there was an infant present when the crime occurred and immediately began a search for the baby.
On May 6, the baby, 10-month-old Eleia Maria Torres was found alive.
The suspect is in custody but his identity hasn’t been revealed.
