A recently fired Tulsa County deputy has been charged with stealing nearly 100-thousand dollars from his elderly father, who had Alzheimers and numerous medical issues.
An affidavit says Phillip Annis had power of attorney for his father since 2018.
It says the father was in care facility in Broken Arrow and in June of 2020, the bills weren’t being paid in full or at all, resulting in an eviction notice in August of 2021.
It says at that time, the man owed the facility more than $40,000.
It says his accounts had totaled more than $98,000.
The sheriff’s office says Annis started with the department in June of 2019, and was placed on unpaid leave in October 20-21 because of an internal investigation.
The sheriff’s office says Annis was fired last Wednesday and arrested the same day.
Annis has since bonded out of jail and is charged with financial exploitation.
