Travis Barker, 46, was rushed to hospital with pancreatitis on Tuesday, thought to be triggered by a recent colonoscopy (a test to check inside your bowels), it has been reported.
The Blink-182 star’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian, has been by his side while he’s received care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA, according to TMZ.
“Travis was suffering from extreme stomach pain and could barely walk,” a source tells reporters the Blink-182 drummer’s rush to the hospital accompanied by his newlywed wife
But what exactly is pancreatitis and what painful symptoms might Barker be suffering from?
The most common symptoms of the condition, as listed by the NHS are:
- suddenly getting severe pain in the centre of your tummy (abdomen)
- feeling or being sick
- a high temperature of 38C or more (fever)
Acute pancreatitis causes
This shorter variation of the condition is often linked to gallstones (small stones, usually made of cholesterol, that form in the gallbladder) or drinking too much alcohol.
By reducing how much alcohol you drink or changing your diet to make gallstones less likely, you can reduce your chances of developing acute pancreatitis, the health service advises.
After Barker entered the hospital, his 16-year-old daughter Alabama sent a plea to her followers on social media, writing on her Instagram Story for them to “send your prayers” for her dad.
Note: How to cure Adopt a liquid diet consisting of foods such as broth, gelatin, and soups. These simple foods may allow the inflammation process to get better.
Over-the-counter pain medications may also help. Avoid pain medications that can affect the liver such as acetaminophen (Tylenol and others).
