Three Teens in Custody After Officers Shot At On Indy’s East Side
According to IMPD, three juvenile males are among four suspects taken into custody after officers were shot at late Saturday night on Indy’s East side.
Police say just before 10 p.m., Violent Crimes Unit detectives and SWAT officers were following a vehicle occupied by suspects believed to be involved in a recent shooting. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle near East 10th Street, investigators say shots were fired from the suspect vehicle toward officers. At least one officer returned fire.
The vehicle was eventually stopped on East 10th Street near German Church Road.
IMPD says: Two juvenile suspects were shot & taken to hospitals in stable condition. A third juvenile was hospitalized in stable condition after officers used less-lethal rounds. The fourth suspect, an adult male, was not injured.
IMPD says a rifle and handgun were recovered from the vehicle, and one juvenile was found with a machine gun conversion device. At least one police vehicle was hit by gunfire.
No officers or community members were hurt.
