
Memphis police arrested three people under the age of 15 connected to a carjacking and a shooting on New Year’s Eve.
The carjacking happened just after 1 p.m. on Pershing Park Drive near Corning Avenue.
Police say the victim was getting out of a Nissan Sentra when approached by a suspect with a gun.
The robber demanded his property, took his phone and drove off in the Sentra.
Then at 2 p.m., police were called to the area of South Parkway and Riverside Boulevard. The victim told officers a male in a Nissan fired shots and left the scene. No one was injured.
Officers located the Sentra in the area of Vance Avenue and South Lauderdale Street around 3 p.m.
After the driver refused to pull over, officers gave chase, which ended in a foot chase in the area of Kansas Street and Goodloe Avenue.
Two 14-year-old boys and a 12-year-old boy were arrested and charged.
One of the 14-year-olds is also charged with not having a driver’s license, evading in an automobile and reckless driving.
All three are charged with: aggravated robbery, carjacking, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and evading arrest on foot.
