Homicide Arrests Made: On Tuesday June 28, 2022, at 11:00am deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Nash in Ypsilanti Township for multiple calls of shots fired with a man laying on the ground.
When deputies arrived on scene they discovered 46-year-old Terrill Smith of Ypsilanti Township had been hit multiple times by gunfire.
Deputies rendered aid until medical personnel arrived and transported Terrill to a local hospital.
Unfortunately, Terrill died as a result of his injuries.
Investigators have worked tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible. On Friday July 1st, three individuals were taken into custody related to the shooting.
- 24-year-old male from Ypsilanti City was arrested in Georgia. He is in the process of being transported back to Washtenaw County. Specific charges are pending.
- 41-year-old Ypsilanti Township woman, Martita Bonner was arraigned on charges of Conspiracy to commit homicide/open murder. Her bond was set at $1,000,000. She is currently housed in the Washtenaw County Jail.
- 25-year-old Ypsilanti woman, Jermia Castion was arraigned on charges of Conspiracy to commit homicide/open murder. Her bond was set at $1,000,000. She is currently housed in the Washtenaw County Jail.
While Terrill streamed live from his Facebook page, the shooting was overheard/witnessed by many.
Prior to being removed, the video had been shared numerous times and countless people were exposed to the reality of gun violence here in our community.
Although several have been taken into custody, the investigation is ongoing. We need the assistance of our community in order to identify and apprehend the other individuals responsible.
