There are new developments surrounding the murder of Malik Tyrese Sutton, 25 of Birmingham.
The deadly shooting happened Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:20 p.m. in the 4200 block of Avenue L. Birmingham police identified the suspect in this case as Eren Johnson, 23, of Birmingham.
West Precinct officers responded to a shot spotter call at that location on the night of the shooting. As officers were patrolling that area, investigators said officers found Sutton lying unresponsive in a driveway suffering from a gunshot wound.
Sutton was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Johnson has been charged with capital murder. He’s in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond. BPD didn’t release a motive behind the shooting.
