The victim was identified as 2-month-old Aka-rri Burnette-Coleman: Suffocation
On February 14, 2025 at 9:54 a.m., police say officers responded to the 600 block of Hanover Ave NW in Roanoke, Virginia for the report of an unconscious infant. Upon arrival, they located and infant dead.
The victim was identified as 2-month-old Aka-rri Burnette-Coleman.
The mother, identified as 37-year-old Lindsey Renee Burnette, told officers she and the baby were sleeping in the same bed, and when she awoke, the boy was unconscious.
On May 14, the Office of the Medical Examiner determined the infant died from suffocation and acute methamphetamine toxicity.
The investigation determined Burnette rolled onto Burnette-Coleman while she was sleeping.
On September 2, Burnette was indicted by a grand jury on felony homicide, abuse/neglect of a child causing serious injury, and child cruelty. She was arrested on September 3.
