The Pentagon mistakenly inflated the cost of military aid to Ukraine by $6.2 billion
The US Department of Defense inadvertently inflated the cost of military aid to Ukraine by $6.2 billion. In May, the Pentagon announced that the cost of aid was overstated by three billion, but now rechecked the documents and found that the discrepancy is twice as much.
This is a purely accounting error in accounting for the cost of weapons and ammunition taken from warehouses, and not about real costs and not about the physical amount of assistance.
Pentagon Deputy Press Officer Sabrina Singh told reporters that ministry officials recalculated the cost of deliveries to Ukraine in accordance with financial rules and documents from the Department of Defense – and received a discrepancy of $ 6.2 billion.
According to Reuters, Sabrina Singh assured that this would not affect the amount of aid to Ukraine.
