The Near 3,000-Lb. Cream Cheese Recall Just Received: Listeria monocytogenes

By the FDA’s definition, a Class I recall is “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The FDA’s March 11 update also revealed that a total of 557 five-pound tubs had been recalled, resulting in a total 2,785 pounds of affected cream cheese.

By now, all product should have been pulled from point of sale, having passed the February 27, 2026 expiration date if not for the recall itself. The apparent level of risk and scope of products involved may suggest the investigative findings, after the February FDA advisory stated: “The recall was the result of a routine sampling program by the company which revealed that a part of the mixer used to manufacture finished products was contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.”
