Tulsa man headed to federal prison for nearly 4 years for beating and strangling his former girlfriend.
Terrance Reed had pleaded guilty to assault of an intimate partner in June of 2020.
Court documents say Reed asked his ex-girlfriend for a ride on Feb. 16th, 2020 and during the car ride, Reed began yelling at her about a recent trip she took with friends.
Then, he demanded to check her text messages and when she refused to hand over her phone, Reed punched her, dragged her from the car and strangled her until she passed out and kept punching her in the face.
When she came to, she tried to call 911, but, he took her phone and took off.
She drove to a family member’s house, who got her help.

About 55% of women murdered in the U.S. were killed by th eir partner who had abused them.
Strangulation has been identified as one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence: unconsciousness may occur within seconds and death within minutes.
