A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a Northern Illinois University student in the Englewood neighborhood last October.
According to authorities, the teen was one of several suspects who shot and killed Alijah Addison as he was leaving his sister’s house in the 6900 block of South Peoria Street.
Addison had been shot in the back and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The 16-year-old was arrested in the 6400 block of South Calumet Avenue on Wednesday. He was charged with first-degree murder and felony weapon possession.
According to a family spokesperson, Addison was a sophomore at NIU.
