Teacher & Youth Pastor Arrested in Child Sex Crime Sting — Assistant Principal Also Charged
A former public school teacher and youth pastor is behind bars after investigators say he sent explicit videos to someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl — who was actually an undercover police officer.
On March 3, 2026, 36-year-old Mikah Brondyke was arrested following an investigation into alleged online sexual crimes involving a minor, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities say the case began when Brondyke communicated online with a Holly Springs police officer who was posing as a 14-year-old girl during an undercover operation targeting online predators.
Court documents show Brondyke allegedly sent explicit videos to the undercover officer during the conversations.
Investigators later arrested Brondyke and charged him with multiple offenses including soliciting a child by computer, indecent liberties with a child, disseminating obscenity, and first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Additional charges filed against him include felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.
Authorities also charged Brondyke’s wife, Chloe Brondyke, in connection with the drug allegations. She faces felony possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.
Chloe Brondyke works as an assistant principal at Rolesville High School in Wake County. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, she turned herself in and was later released after posting a $20,000 bond.
School officials confirmed that the alleged incidents tied to Mikah Brondyke’s charges did not occur at Rolesville High School and did not involve any students from the school.
In a letter sent to families, Rolesville High School Principal Phelan Perry stated that the district had placed Chloe Brondyke on paid suspension while the situation is investigated.
Authorities say Mikah Brondyke previously worked as a career and technical education teacher and assistant soccer coach at Rolesville High School until May 1, 2024.
North Carolina Wesleyan University also confirmed that Brondyke worked there from June 2017 through August 2020 in a ministry and outreach role.
In a statement, the university said the alleged crimes occurred years after his employment there and were unrelated to the institution.
Following his arrest, Mikah Brondyke was booked into the Franklin County Detention Center, where he remains held under a $620,000 secured bond. He is expected to appear in court in April.
Authorities say the investigation involved multiple agencies working together through a task force that targets cybercrimes against children.
Holly Springs Police Chief Paul Liquorie said investigations like this often begin through tips received by agencies such as the State Bureau of Investigation or the FBI.
Officials say parents should remain vigilant when monitoring their children’s online activity.
