Tasha Hafes called 911 and told the operator that the devil was attacking her. When police arrived and tried to contact Hafes, they saw the body of a young boy who had been decapitated.
On February 15, 2022, police responded to a 911 call around 11:45pm to 7312 Indiana Ave, Kansas City, Missouri.
The woman who made the 911 call told the operator that the devil was attacking her. When they arrived, police noticed blood and hair on the front door of the residence.
Police attempted to contact the female inside the house, who they could hear singing, but she refused to open the door. When police started knocking more, she began singing louder.
While police kept attempting to speak to the woman inside, they learnt she had multiple children who have not been seen in several days. Police then noticed a decapitated head inside of the house.
Police then forcefully entered the house and took the female, who had blood and cuts on her, into custody. She would later be identified as Tasha Haefs.
When they entered the house, police found the body of a young boy who had been decapitated. No other children were inside of the house. The medical examiner identified the deceased to be 6-year-old Karvel Stevens.
After securing a search warrant, police returned to do a thorough search of the home. On the dining room table, police found a knife, a knife handle, and a screwdriver that had blood and human flesh on it.
In the basement, they found the family dog decapitated. Police recovered another knife that also had blood and human flesh on it.
Haefs told police she had killed her 6-year-old son in the bathtub and decapitated him afterwards.
Haef’s arraignment was On February 16, 2022. She has been charged with 1st degree murder and armed criminal action.
She is being held in the Jackson County Detention Center without bail. She is due in court again on April 15, 2022.
As of now, the siblings are with family.
