Carissa Katekaru, a spokeswoman for North Richland Hills police, said the department does not believe there is any immediate threat to the public. Jerrell Street is closed in both directions from Charles Street to Rufe Snow Drive, the department tweeted. Bonzer Street is also closed because of the incident, according to police.
Shortly before noon, officers were dispatched in response to a “domestic situation” at the 6500 block of Jerrell Street, Katekaru said. North Richland Hills is about 10 miles northeast of Fort Worth.
SWAT was called in about 1 p.m. after a man barricaded himself inside a house, Katekaru said. No one is being held hostage, and police believe there are weapons inside the home, she added.
“It’s a very very active scene right now,” she said.
