Suspects arrested for stealing thousands in nutrition drinks, police say

Ohio– A couple has been arrested after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars in nutrition drinks, and then at the time of their arrest, police said, they discovered hundreds more of the drinks packed into the back of a truck.

The man and woman from Mercer County, Pennsylvania were arrested Wednesday night, after an investigation into coupon scam.

The City of Alliance Police Department announced on Facebook that Soud Kanan, 27, and Asmaa Kanan, 25, were arrested at a Marc’s store in the 2400 block of West State Street in Alliance shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Police said the two were under investigation for a scam in which they are alleged to have fraudulently stolen over $1,600 worth of Ensure from Marc’s and Meijer stores on June 11.

Officers said, at the time of their arrests, the man and woman also had hundreds of packs of Ensure in the back of a Penske truck.

Police said it is believed that the products were obtained illegally from the Boardman and Salem Marc’s stores.

The City of Alliance Police Department said the investigation is ongoing. Police said that Soud and Asmaa Kanan were both charged with engaging in a continuous course of conduct to commit theft by deception, a felony charge.
