RawNews1st – The Montgomery County, KS Sheriff’s Office says it took a day and a lot of teamwork, but, they got two people in custody, who are accused of stealing 2 different vehicles and running from police.
They say it started June 8th around 8 PM, when deputies say Devon Simmons was running from police in a stolen van, speeding through a gravel roads.
It says they lost him and set up a 560 acre perimeter and used a drone and plane, but, couldn’t find him.
The next morning, a man reports his ATV was stolen about a 1/2 mile away and a deputy remembered seeing a man and woman on an ATV in that area, a short time earlier.
They found the stolen van nearby.
A few hours later, deputies saw Devon and Jewels Simmons near a Braums and recognized them as the couple on the ATV.
Deputies learned the couple had abandoned the ATV nearby and had thrown the keys for the stolen van on top of a roof.
Investigators recovered the ATV and the keys.
