Suspect was arrested for Murder and booked in the Pre-Trial Detention Facility

RawNews1st – At approximately 11:00 p.m., patrol officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were working the 5 Points area of town in the 1000 block of Park Street when they heard a single gunshot.

A large crowd started to disperse upon hearing the gunshot. Officers immediately observed an adult male laying on the roadway who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound.

Simultaneously, officers also observed an adult male standing near the victim and in possession of a firearm. This subject was then detained by patrol officers without incident.

Officers then began to assist the victim with life saving measures while the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was contacted to respond.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by JFRD where he was pronounced deceased.

JSO Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Detectives responded to conduct their respective investigations. Homicide Detectives conducted a thorough investigation, and after reviewing all available evidence a suspect was identified.

Jaelin Ieon Leroy (Black/Male, 22), who was previously detained by patrol officers, was arrested for Murder and booked in the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
