Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison joined Homicide Squad detectives to ask for the public’s help in locating a Mastic Beach man who is wanted for a fatal shooting in Mastic Beach last weekend.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Joseph Scalafani after detectives determined he shot Alex Smith in the parking lot of 373 Neighborhood Road on May 20. Smith, 30, of Mastic, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Scalafani, 32, fled the scene in a vehicle. He is known to frequent Mastic, Mastic Beach and Shirley.
Anyone with information on Scalafani’s location is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
