The 9th and final person has now been convicted of kidnapping and murdering a woman in Mayes County by shooting her, cutting her throat and beating her with a tire jack.
29 year old Tre Ackerson, from Webb City, MO, has pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of Jolene Campbell.
Ackerson is looking at life in federal prison with no parole, when he’s sentenced later.
Federal prosecutors say Ackerson and Breanna Sloan kidnapped and killed Jolene and 7 others beat up and shot at witnesses and destroyed evidence in the case.
On July 5th, 2020, Breanna Sloan and Ackerson were driving around Joplin, Missouri and they saw Jolene walking on the side and Ackerson told Sloan, he had robbed Jolene just a few hours earlier.
They decided to lure Jolene to their vehicle, offered her a ride, then kidnapped her at gunpoint.
Ackerson tried to rob Jolene again, but she didn’t have anything left.
They drove her to OK, then pulled into a field in Mayes County on a dead-end dirt road and that’s when Ackerson forced Jolene out of the car and shot her several times, cut her throat and hit her head several times with a tire jack until she died.
A year later, 9 other people were charged for wiping fingerprints out of the car and cleaning it with bleach and others kidnapped and blindfolded witnesses and beat them up and shot at them and offered a bounty for someone to attack another witness in jail.
The others who have been convicted are:
Breanna Sloan, Chloe Stith, Sarah Humbard, David Morris,
Lane Bronson, Morgan Bowman, Jacob Scribner,
Megan Detherage.
