The person of interest taken into custody Sunday in connection to the deadly mass shooting at Brown University has been identified as Benjamin Erickson, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Erickson, 24, was nabbed at a local hotel room after a gunman opened fire at the Ivy League institution’s Providence, RI, campus during a final-exam study session Saturday.

Witnesses said the gunman shouted something but that they were not sure exactly what.

Sources told The Post that a unique laser light on his handgun led them to the person of interest.

Two students were killed and nine others injured in the carnage. One of the injured victims remains in critical condition, with seven others listed in stable condition and one discharged from the hospital, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley told reporters Sunday morning.

“We continue to be in mourning as a community about the tragic loss of life from gun violence that stole the lives of two of our students yesterday,” Brown University President Christina Paxson said in a statement.

Police said the person of interest was taken into custody at a Coventry, RI, hotel at around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.
