Marco Island Police, Collier County Sheriff’s deputies and the SWAT team combined efforts to arrest 26-year-old Ricardo Aragon at his Skylark Avenue home Tuesday morning on charges of child pornography possession and distribution.
“We take these crimes very seriously. We take all crimes and tips very seriously,” said Chief Tracy Frazzano of the Marco Island Police Department (MIPD).
Marco Island Police received a cyber tip from both Google and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in November of 2022 and were investigating Aragon for about six months, according to MIPD.
“Investigations last long on this because the crimes are over the internet. There’s a lot of subpoenas, incidents, background information you have to get.
Material is constantly uploaded to web and consistently taken down from the web, so it’s a lot of work for our detectives to go through,” said Chief Frazzano.
The tip described Aragon allegedly searching for and possessing nude videos and images of “pre-pubescent boys and girls,” according to his arrest report.
He later shared those files via email with others, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
