Police in San Antonio said Albert Casanova, 39, was taken into custody on May 6 after Briann Hernandez, 30, was killed at the Oyo Hotel days earlier.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by KSAT, the victim and Casanova arrived at the thoel together in the woman’s vehicle around noon on May 2.
The woman was seen briefly on surveillance video outside the room later that night, around 10:15 p.m. Six minutes later, at 10:21 p.m., the warrant states footage allegedly shows Casanova exiting their shared room and fleeing in the woman’s vehicle.
The following day, a hotel employee discovered the victim’s body in the room and phone police.
Casanova was booked into the Bexar County jail on a murder charge, and his bond was set at $200,000.
According to Bexar County records, Casanova has an extensive criminal history that stretches back years and includes arrests for arson, drug possession, assault, and theft, among others.
