Suspect Arrested After Father And Son Shot To Death At Wedding Reception On Father’s Day
A suspect was arrested after a father and son were shot to death early Father’s Day morning in California, according to authorities.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office said deputies received 911 calls Sunday around 4 a.m. from two houses in the same area, with reports that a person was shot at each location.
When deputies arrived, they found three people shot at two different addresses about a block apart from each other.
At one house, deputies said they found one man dead from gunshot wounds, and another man injured.
The injured man was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
At the second home, deputies found another man dead.
Deputies said the men who died were father and son, and the surviving man was a friend of the son.
Investigations show the son and friend were attending a wedding reception at one of the homes, and the father was playing cards in a garage at the time of the shooting.
The suspect has been identified as 51-year-old Francisco Trejo Ramirez, who is from the Madera area.
Ramirez is now in custody and being moved back to Madera County, where he will be booked into jail.
“This is an extremely tragic situation,” Pogue said during a news conference. “Our condolences go out to the family. Mr. Espinoza not only was murdered on Father’s Day and the same day as his son, but it was also his birthday.”
Authorities still do not know which shooting happen first but said Ramirez was an acquaintance of the father and son.
If anyone has information about the shootings or sees Ramirez, call Crime Stoppers immediately at 498-STOP.
