Investigators arrest a man accused of kidnapping and assaulting his own brother, plus kidnapping another man, running from cops, blowing through two road blocks, before crashing and putting up a fight when arrested.
They also arrested a man accused of having 3.5 pounds of pot and arrested a woman accused of giving the man the pot and having a sawed off rifle, as an ex-con.
The affidavit says this started when Joshua Butler (top photo) kidnapped his brother at the brother’s home in Wetumka, picked up two women along the way and drove the victim to a home in Eufaula.
It says that was the home of Layton Flud.
It says Butler did this in order to sort out a rumor that Flud was telling people, he’d seen the brother have sex with Butler’s girlfriend.
It says Butler began beating his brother, who took off running to a neighbor’s house, who called police.
It says Butler threatened to shoot Flud if he didn’t get into the victim’s truck so he did and the women got in also.
It says when McIntosh County deputies tried to stop Butler, he ran over a mailbox to avoid the first road block, then rammed patrol cars to get past the second road block, was running people off the road, blowing stop signs and passing people until he crashed into a ditch.
It says even then, he fought with deputies, took off running and was tased, then taken into custody.
It says during the chase, Butler ordered one of the women, Felicia Whitetree, to toss the sawed off rifle and bags of pot out the window, which she did, which were later recovered by deputies.
It says Butler admitted he’s the one who cut off the barrel and removed the stock on Whitetree’s rifle, since it had been mis-firing.
It says Whitetree admitted giving the pot to Flud for it to be processed, hoping to get meth in exchange.
It says Flud admitted processing the pot and initially buying the rifle and giving it to Whitetree.
