Derrion Mitchell, 19, of Houston, is accused of killing Adrienne Russell during what may have been a fight over a dog, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Russell, 45, was found Saturday suffering from multiple stab wounds in the backyard of a home in the 12000 block of Flushing Meadows Drive in the Scarsdale area, according to the affidavit. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
But on Monday, the roommate contacted police again and said he had actually been home at the time of the attack, witnessed Mitchell get into a fight with Russell, and saw him chase her down and stab her with a large kitchen knife as she tried to escape through the backyard, according to the affidavit.
Mitchell was in custody at the Harris County Jail Tuesday night, according to court records. His bond hadn’t been set and he didn’t have a listed defense attorney.
Mitchell was scheduled to appear at a probable cause hearing Tuesday night and at a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning. Prosecutors asked for Mitchell’s bond to be set at $250,000.
