A woman has been charged with child abuse by injury after police say her 10 month old baby had bleeding on both sides of the brain and a broken wrist.
The affidavit for Rena Jones says the baby was admitted into the hospital in late August.
Is says Jones told officers she had been the sole caretaker of her baby and her 2 year old, since July 4th when they were with family.
It says she told police she didn’t know how the baby got a brain injury and blamed the broken arm on the hospital staff getting the baby’s arm caught when lowering the bed rail.
It says the staff denied that happened and a doctor said it wouldn’t have caused the break.
The doctor said the brain bleed and bleeding of the left eye were most likely caused by shaking the baby’s head back and forth rapidly and the injuries happened well after July 4th.
