SUNY Morrisville is under lockdown after a reported shooting left one person hurt, sending students scrambling for safety.
Police have flooded the campus, urging everyone to barricade in place while they search for the suspect.
With helicopters overhead, classrooms locked, and fear spreading fast, it’s another day in America and another campus turned into a crime scene.
Classes are suspended and the campus remains sealed off as the investigation unfolds.
Troopers found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the neck, State Police said in a news release. Troopers said the man shot is not a student at the college.
No one else was injured during the incident, troopers said.
Civilians are being asked to avoid the area, according to Samantha Field, a spokesperson for Madison County.
A helicopter was called to take the man to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, but it was canceled due to the stormy weather. An ambulance was rushing the victim to the hospital, according to 911 center dispatches.
A SWAT team was ordered to respond, in addition to a bloodhound, according to 911 center dispatches.
