“Tackling violent crime is the Met’s number one priority and Friday night’s events only serve to strengthen our resolve as we continue to get guns off the streets and bring offenders to justice.”
“We will do everything we can to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. Our thoughts here at North Area are with the injured social worker and his family and wish him a speedy recovery.”
She added: “I also want to pay tribute to the two officers who came to the aid of the victim in this incident and suffered knife wounds themselves.”
Ms Fleming added: ‘This incident shows how dangerous knives are for everyone in Haringey and all over London.
The Met said steps have been taken to protect the children who were the subject of the first welfare visit.
